HFNL Weekly Netball Preview: Good Friday

HFNL Weekly Netball Preview: Good Friday

29th March 2024

It’s hard to believe that the 2024 Season is already upon us and, as is tradition now on Good Friday, Koroit and South Warrnambool will play their Round 4 encounter at the Friendly Societies Park today.

Members of the Executive have been kept very busy in the off Season with lots of discussion had, around a number of changes implemented for Netball in 2024.

Saturday Netball

For the first time in history, all Grades of Netball will be played on the one Day.  Netball will kick off most Saturdays with the Development Netball being played at 8.30 a.m. and for all other grades the schedule will be as follows:-

Play HQ

HFNL Netball have switched to Play HQ for their Competition Management System for 2024.   I’ve no doubt, all of our netball volunteers will find the Play HQ System much more user friendly.

Rolling Substitutions and New Rules for 2024

After every World Cup, World Netball review the Rules of Netball and this year there are a number of changes being introduced to our Competition as a result of that review.   Rolling Substitutions will be a major developmental change giving teams the opportunity to substitute players on and off the court as often as they like during the match.  There are also a number of other rule changes/rule clarifications being modified.  Some excellent PDF’s and Videos are available of the World Netball Rules app.  (Free for anyone who wishes to download).

Match of the Day

Whilst the reigning Premiers have lost some players from last year’s Premiership team, they have recruited well and will be in the running for another great season.  Koroit have some promising talented youth who will be better and stronger than when we last saw them.  With perfect weather condition predicted, I anticipate this will be a great show case of talent but the Roosters will get off to a winning start.

Looking forward to the first round in a week’s time.

Have a great day at the Football and Netball.
