HNFL Weekly Netball Wrap: Round 14

25th July 2025

Round 13 delivered another thrilling chapter in the modern rivalry between Hampden netball powerhouses Warrnambool and South Warrnambool, with the Blues edging out the Roosters by just three goals in a high-quality contest. These two sides have built a fierce and respectful rivalry over recent seasons, and this latest clash only adds to the excitement. If this is a glimpse of what’s to come in the finals, we’re in for a spectacular September.

Elsewhere, Koroit and Cobden continue to showcase their class and consistency. Both sides are tracking superbly, putting together strong four-quarter performances and maintaining their places inside the top three. Their ability to pile on scoreboard pressure while remaining structured defensively is a hallmark of their success this year.

The fight for fifth spot remains tight. Camperdown continues to edge closer to securing a place in the top five, showing strong form over recent rounds. The Magpies have been building nicely, with several players stepping up at crucial moments. Their ability to win key match-ups across the court has them in the box seat as we approach the pointy end of the season.

Portland looks to be the only real threat to Camperdown’s finals aspirations. The Tigers will need to capitalise on every opportunity in the coming weeks if they are to leapfrog into fifth position. Every quarter, every goal, and every turnover could prove decisive in the race for the last finals spot.

With five rounds to play, expect the intensity to lift and the margins to tighten. The top four appear settled, but the battle for fifth is far from over—and if the standard of the recent Warrnambool vs South Warrnambool game is anything to go by, the Hampden FNL finals series is shaping up to be something special.
