HFNL Partners with TOMRA Cleanaway and Are-Able for 2025 Grand Final Recycling Initiative

HFNL Partners with TOMRA Cleanaway and Are-Able for 2025 Grand Final Recycling Initiative

22nd September 2025

The Hampden Football Netball League is proud to announce a new partnership with TOMRA Cleanaway and Are-Able at this year’s Grand Final.

As part of this initiative, up to 20 collection bins will be placed around Reid Oval for spectators to deposit recyclable bottles and cans. At the conclusion of Grand Final Day, the Are-Able team will collect all bins, load them onto the Community Recycling Trailer, and process the materials at the Container Deposit Scheme Depot in Albert Street.

All proceeds raised from the recycling will directly support Are-Able and the many outstanding programs they deliver across the community.

HFNL Administrator Trent Hill said the League is delighted to build this partnership.

“We are thrilled to improve our environmental footprint and support the great work that Are-Able do. They are a wonderful organisation, and to be able to contribute to their programs is tremendous,” Hill said.

Are-Able Site Manager Jason Esam said the initiative provides real benefits for participants.

“We are thrilled to be working with the Hampden FNL. This partnership not only helps the environment, but it also provides ongoing work opportunities for our participants,” Esam said.

General Manager Victoria of TOMRA Cleanaway Tony Catania says this is exactly the kind of community partnership that brings CDS Vic to life.

“The team at the Hampden League Football Netball League and Are-Able are leading the charge, with the support from locals and visitors alike showing just how easy and impactful recycling can be when it’s built into the experience.”
