This week’s Hampden AFL wrap saw starring performances from a Blues midfielder and Lions wingman help their sides continue their winning starts to the year, while an emerging Bulldog continued his growth as an up-and-coming key forward in the third round of the AFL season.

Willem Drew

Home Club: Koroit

AFL Club: Port Adelaide

Stats: 7 kicks, 9 handballs, 1 mark

Three clearances and a goal to go alongside 16 touches signalled another workmanlike performance from the Koroit product but it was to no avail as the Power lost the Showdown courtesy of a Jordan Dawson goal after the siren.

Jamarra Ugle-Hagan

AFL Club: Western Bulldogs

Stats: 7 kicks, 0 handballs, 2 marks

Another positive performance from the former Rooster. The 20 year-old finished with 1.2 for the night at the Dogs defeated Sydney at Marvel Stadium.

Sam Walsh

AFL Club: Carlton

Stats: 18 kicks, 14 handballs, 8 marks

Another big performance numbers wise from the reigning John Nicholls Medallist, with Walsh helping the Blues to top spot on the ladder and 3-0 win-loss record to start the season.

Rowan Marshall

Home Club: Portland

AFL Club: St Kilda

Stats: 5 kicks, 4 handballs, 3 marks

14 hit-outs and two goals show the Portland tall was productive in the Saints win over Richmond. Rucked in tandem with Paddy Ryder, with the pair nullifying the influence of Tiger Toby Nankervis.

Hugh McCluggage

Home Club: South Warrnambool

AFL Club: Brisbane Lions

Stats: 21 kicks, 8 handballs, 6 marks

Another strong outing from the former number three pick, with McCluggage once again amongst the Lions best in its big win over North Melbourne.

Jamaine Jones

Home Club: Portland

AFL Club: West Coast Eagles

Stats: 5 kicks, 4 handballs, 1 mark

Returned to the Eagles line-up after missing the round two contest, but his return failed to help his club as it was handed a 55 point loss in the Western Derby against Fremantle.

Failed to pass a fitness test after injuring his ankle in the Dockers loss to St Kilda in round two.

Gary Rohan

Will not feature at AFL level until at least the second half of the season as he builds fitness in his recovery from a back and hip injury sustained during the pre-season.
