It was an unusual feeling last weekend in the Hampden League. For time first ever crowds were not allowed to attend games, the atmosphere was certainly missed at all games, even though it was nice to be back playing. Crowd caps have been extended this round and I have no doubt, that volunteers and supporters will be flooding through the gates on Saturday.

I mention players all the time, but last round we (Hampden League Live team) witnessed a goal-kicking exhibition from Camperdown’s Sam Gordan. He kicked nine goals without any scoreboard blemishes. He is a terrific player to watch and keeps you guessing all time. His marking skills high and low are strong whilst his set shot goal kicking is precise and he can kick goals out of nothing. If I was selecting a team of the year side at the moment, he’s a lock alongside Koroit’s Sam Dobson in the forward 50.

Terang Mortlake playmaker Joey Arundell lines up in his 100th game this weekend. He burst onto the senior scene with lots of excitement and renowned for having quite a few party tricks. Over the last few seasons, he has been one of the Bloods most consistent performers. Congratulations on the great milestone Joey.

A great of matches this weekend, and some important games in relation to teams keeping their top 3 and top 5 aspirations alive.

Portland vs Camperdown – The Tigers will be hard at home but who will shut down Sam Gordan – Magpies just.

Cobden vs South Warrnambool – Cobden in good form but Roosters too strong.

Port Fairy vs Warrnambool – I think Warrnambool a little too much power in the F50.

Terang Mortlake vs North Warrnambool – The Eagles will continue their winning form.

Hamilton vs Koroit – No Levi Dare hurts their height stocks, the Saints for me.

See you at the footy!
